Asia Culture Center (ACC) presents the solo exhibition “Delivery Dancer’s Arc: Inverse” by the inaugural ACC Future Prize winner, Ayoung Kim, on view through February 16, 2025. The “ACC Future Prize” is a prestigious arts award aimed at discovering creative artists who push the boundaries of innovative future values and possibilities. This year’s exhibition features the first awardee, Ayoung Kim’s new work.

Based on extensive research, Kim has been exploring contemporary issues and relationships between fact and fiction, record and representation, and historical events across various domains, including society, culture, politics, and economics. Since 2017, Kim has been attracting attention from both domestic and international art world for her unique work that reconfigures macro-narratives such as migration, capitalism, and national ideology into hybrid and overlapping speculative narratives dominated by archaeology, futurism, and science fiction imagination.

“Delivery Dancer’s Arc: Inverse” delves into traditional cosmologies and time systems that have gradually faded with the advent of Western modernization, seeking to revive them through contemporary art narratives. Also, Kim actively engages with the tense of the future through collaboration with AI. The computational outcomes of the AI system, rooted in her speculative narratives, encompass not only imaginative futures but also continuously calculated ones.

This exhibition transcends time and space, venturing into a realm of possibilities where seemingly unrelated entities are connected. It also encourages viewers to reconsider the cultural and historical power dynamics between nations, politics, and religion in the context of modernization and to reflect on the imagination of dislocated time and space.
