Explanation
Books are stacked in an irregular and disorganized manner in a bookcase that stands unsteadily. A small child sits on top of a bookshelf that has fallen to the ground, isolated and alone among books that look like they could fall on him at any moment. Next to a small child, cacti are toppled over as if an earthquake had occurred, suggesting an unstable and uneasy world. The books in the work penetrate the plants and objects as if the books are binding them together.

Hong Kyoungtack began his series of "Still life" paintings in the 1990s
when he was in his third year of university. He realized that our lives
and the things around us are similar in that they are transient,
so he started painting objects made of plastic.
