SONGEUN will present the exhibition “Portrait of a Collection: Selected Works from the Pinault Collection” from September 4 to November 23, to coincide with Frieze-Kiaf Seoul 2024.

The Pinault Collection is the property of François Pinault, founder of the Kering Group and owner of the art auction house Christie's, and comprises works by world-renowned artists. The Pinault Collection, which inaugurated the Bourse de Commerce-Pinault Collection in 2021 to share its collection with the public in a former Parisian trading floor, is home to more than 10,000 works of modern and contemporary art.

Thirteen years after the Pinault Collection was first unveiled in Asia in 2011 with the exhibition “Agony and Ecstasy” at SONGEUN (formerly SongEun Art Space), it will once again be presented to Korean audiences.

“Portrait of a Collection: Selected Works from the Pinault Collection” was inspired by the inaugural exhibition “Ouverture,” which opened in 2021 when the Pinault Collection transformed the Bourse de Commerce in Paris, France, into a museum, and featured Marlene Dumas, David Hammons, Luc Tuymans, Peter Doig, Florian Krewer, Ser Serpas, Rudolf Stinger, and Lynette Yiadom-Boakye.

Curated by Caroline Bourgeois to capture the essence of the Pinault Collection, the exhibition will encompass a wide range of media, including video, installation, sculpture, drawing, and painting, providing a comprehensive introduction to the artistic expression of the collection.
