Space Cadalogs presents “When images become form,” an exhibition by four young painting artists, Dongjin Kim, Nah Eun Min, Yoon Je Won, and Jinhyung Lee, on view through March 15.

The title of the exhibition is borrowed from the title of Harald Szeemann’s exhibition “When attitudes became form”. His legendary exhibitions, which showcased gestures and artists’ attitudes rather than objects, turned the museum into a form, a place of communication. His exhibitions, which presented a new way of seeing art as a process rather than a finished form, have become a history of contemporary art.

“When images become form” is an exhibition that attempts to return to the flat in contrast to this trend in contemporary art. It introduces the work of four painters who maintain the classical method of collecting photographed or existing images and reproducing them on canvas. The exhibition brings together flat works that focus on the artist’s method of production rather than their narrative or content.

Curator Sun Mi Lee, who curated the exhibition, said, “It is difficult to maintain the survival of art that is independent of any attitude or form, but in this exhibition, I have organized an exhibition with artists who keep working on painting ‘just because I like painting’ regardless of any purpose or content.”
