Espace Louis Vuitton Seoul presents “Atterissage” by Sheila Hicks (b. 1934) who is a pioneer of textile art, through September 8.

Blurring the boundaries between fine and applied art, Sheila Hicks seamlessly brings together modernism and abstract concepts, non-Western traditions and technological conventions in her hand-knitted works, soft sculptures, and large-scale installations. Hicks conceives artworks-environments composed of wool, nylon, silk, linen, or cotton, creating inviting atmospheres in which viewers are invited to walk, lie down, and relax.

For the first time in Korea, the exhibition presents two of Sheila Hicks’s masterpieces, Atterrissage (2014) and Another Break in the Wall (2016). The exhibition is part of the ‘Hors-les-murs’ program, which opens the Louis Vuitton Foundation’s collections to the public and is free of charge.
