A group
exhibition “MAY
DAY MAY DAY MAY DAY,” organized by Mihakgwan, a
nonprofit exhibition space, is viewing at 111CM through September 8.
The
exhibition, featuring artists Listen to the City, Bomroya, Song Sungjin, Song Sumin,
Yeoreum Jeong, Hae Jung Jung, Critical Hit, and Black Jaguar, aims to reveal
the paradox of disasters that have become routinized, like camouflage. The
exhibition draws attention to the disasters that have become routine today,
such as calls for help that have lost their original function, and social
safety net systems that seem to have no problems.
Through
the work of eight artists (teams), the exhibition is reminded that disaster is
always present and already underway, in the here and now, in the temporality of
marginalization, discrimination, exclusion, and marginalization.
In
addition to the exhibition, there will be a roundtable discussion with critics,
participating artists, and curators on why we need art about disaster, artist
workshops with Critical Hit, learning disaster preparedness CPR, and making
zero-waste shampoo bars.
