Peres Projects Seoul presents “Best Before,” Aks Misyuta’s (b. 1984 in Bryansk, RU) first exhibition with the gallery, through June 30. Comprising painting and sculpture, the exhibition marks her solo debut in Asia.

The Istanbul-based artist has garnered attention for her unique style of painting sculptural figures on canvas with stark contrasts and messages that question social conventions. The figures in the paintings wear wristwatches without hands, suggesting a spirit of resistance to social pressures related to time, such as ‘age’ or ‘right time’. This exhibition presents 12 new paintings and 10 sculptures created for the exhibition.

Recent solo exhibitions of her work have been held at Galerie Art: Concept (Paris, 2023), Sébastien Bertrand (Geneva, 2021, 2020), and Union Pacific (London, 2020). She has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including LVH Art Palazzo Barbaro (Venice, 2022), Rudolph Tegners Museum (Dronningmølle, Denmark, 2022), Woaw Gallery (Hong Kong, 2021), and Collaborations (Copenhagen, 2021). Her work is held in public and private collections, including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Buenos Aires, the X Museum in Beijing, and the Niarchos Collection in Paris.
