Palais de Seoul presents Minkyoo Choi’s first solo exhibition 《Permeate-ing》, selected through the 2015 emerging artist open call, from September 22 to October 4.

The artist constructs his own architectural forms that transcend time, space, and culture, based on the unfamiliar visual impressions and emotions experienced while adapting to a new environment after relocating to the Middle East during childhood.

In this first solo exhibition, 《Permeate-ing》, the artist attempts to extract contrasting image cultures, constructing a third type of architecture where familiarity and unfamiliarity intersect. In particular, the warmth conveyed by traditional Korean dancheong and roof tiles, permeating the cold structural framework made of numerous bolts, stainless steel, and mirrors, aligns with the artist’s conceptual direction of interaction and mutual infiltration between environment and human.
