Mooni Perry, And They Begged Repeatedly not to order them to go into the Abyss, 2019, Single-channael video, 17min 36sec ©Mooni Perry

At her first solo exhibition 《Transversing》 at Post Territory Ujeongguk, Mooni Perry presents two video and installation works, stepping away from her primary medium of painting.

And they begged repeatedly not to order them to go into the Abyss explores the intersection of veganism and feminism, seeking cracks within structures of meaning and subjugation. Drawing from poet Kim Hye-Soon’s “Fly, Pig,” the artist reflects on alterity not as a state of the “other” positioned outside oneself, but as something already embedded within — a condition that is neither entirely “you” nor “me,” but something else altogether.

Mushroom Orchestra originated from the artist’s interest in the precarious networks of mushroom trade. The work delves into various stories surrounding the cultivation environments, international trade, and the lives of pine mushroom foragers.

Mooni Perry holds a BFA in Painting from Hongik University and an MA from the Royal College of Art in the UK. She currently lives and works in Berlin. Her practice often examines human–nonhuman relations through a feminist lens, focusing on the interstitial spaces of meaning that resist immediate categorization.
