Art Center Nabi, Korea's
first media art museum, led by Director Noh So-Young, has relocated to a
traditional Korean house (hanok) in Seochon, a historic neighborhood west of
Gyeongbokgung Palace, signaling a new chapter in its journey.
Since its founding in 2000,
Art Center Nabi had been operating out of the SK Seorin Building in Jongno-gu,
Seoul. Recently, it moved to a hanok located on Hyoja-ro 7-gil, a property
acquired by the center in 2014. The new space, now named the "Nabi Future
Research Center," serves as its fresh headquarters.
Nabi Future Research Center:
A Space Bridging Tradition and Innovation
The new headquarters
encompasses 284.3㎡ of land with a 132.23㎡ single-story hanok
building. The center plans to transform this traditional space into a hub for
media art research and projects, symbolically blending Korea's architectural
heritage with cutting-edge digital creativity.
Art Center Nabi: A Pioneer of
Media Art
As Korea's first dedicated
media art museum, Art Center Nabi has played a pivotal role in introducing and
promoting media art in Korea. Through innovative exhibitions and programs, the
center has consistently explored the intersections of technology and art,
solidifying its position as a leader in the field and contributing to the
evolution of Korean media art.
This relocation to Seochon is
expected to provide Art Center Nabi with a new foundation to expand its
artistic vision and further its influence in both the domestic and
international media art scenes.
