Museum Hanmi Samcheong will present “Another Face,” a solo exhibition by Jeong Kyungja (b. 1974), from April 7 to June 4.

Museum Hanmi has been supporting the contemporary photography scene since 2015. It has been organizing the ‘Young Photographers Portfolio’ with the goal of expanding the field of exchange by seeking collaborations with artists. For this year’s ’22/23 Young Photographers Portfolio’, we tried to select works that can be shown through images rather than many descriptions. As a result, Jeong Kyungja was selected to have a solo exhibition.
Jeong’s work is full of silence and uneasy strangeness. The objects and spaces within the frame are unfamiliar and awkward. Instead, following the arrangement of the work, which varies from exhibition to exhibition, suggests the occurrence of a third narrative that is different from the narrative of image and invites the viewer to create their own story. In this way, “Another Face” is part of Jeong’s journey toward the stories that emerge when images of the world as she perceives it are gathered, stacked, and mixed together.

The exhibition features 25 works, including a new series titled ‘Uncanny.’ The ‘Uncanny’ series begins with the question of whether everything surrounding the artist is real or imaginary, and whether the past and future me are the same entity as the present me.

During the exhibition, on April 29 and May 13, workshops will be held for the general public and photography students interested in photography.
