Seoul Auctions hosts ‘Connect Seoul
2024,’ a series of exhibitions and events from August 24 to September 13 at its
Gangnam Center, to coincide with Frieze-Kiaf Seoul Week. Connect Seoul consists
of two special exhibitions highlighting major Korean and international artists
of modern and contemporary art, a group exhibition of media art, and a preview
of upcoming auctions.
The first special exhibition is a solo
exhibition of Japanese artist Yoshimoto Nara on the 5th floor of Gangnam Center
until September 13. The exhibition brings together more than 30 of the artist's
paintings, sculptures, and drawings, including large-scale paintings and
sculptures that are rarely seen, such as Green Eyes (2000), which
depicts a child with large green eyes.
On the 1st basement level,
“Mindfulness,” a two-person exhibition by ceramicist Park YoungSook and Dansaekhwa
painter Lee Ufan, is on view until September 12. More than 40 works of white
porcelain by Park, paintings by Lee, and collaborative works by the two artists
are on display, providing a glimpse into their 40-year-long exchange and
collaboration, as well as their experimental process of combining ceramics and
painting.
In addition, “Lunar Water,” a group
exhibition of media art organized by Hong Kong's K11 Art Foundation, will be
held from September 3 to 7 on the 4th basement level. The exhibition features
A'strict, Cheng Ran, and Tyler Hobbs. All exhibitions will be open from 10 a.m.
to 7 p.m., with extended hours until 9 p.m. on September 5, ‘Cheongdam Night,’
when galleries around Cheongdam-dong will stay open late.

characteristics of Korean contemporary art.
