《Configuration-Event》 takes place as variable digital structures and wood veneer, a natural material, interlock within the time and space of the exhibition.

Patterns carry movement as traces of motion, while also functioning as condensed bodies of information. An event occurs when various unpredictable elements of chance intersect. Configuration-Event explores the moment when small, previously unrecognized elements are revealed as temporary and contingent forms.

Shinae Kim imagines wood veneer as a plane generated through the entanglement of form, event, and information. The organic information embodied by the tree is recorded as patterns, and these patterns in turn relate to the space of Hall1 and to the event of the exhibition, revealing the structure of information contained within the wood as a thin surface.

The digital material that the artist has explored since 2020 lacks tactility, yet because of the absence of the physical body, it allows one to focus more directly on the meaning of the image itself, suggesting the possibility of pure and seamless information.

Through these characteristics of digital structure and wood veneer, the exhibition moves across the conceptual boundary between the immaterial and the material. The two different materials interact as condensed bodies and channels of organic information that allow space to be sensed, revealing new formal possibilities.
