In the exhibition title 《Paintings of Possible Worlds》, the term “possible world” is borrowed from the philosophy of possible worlds, which explores worlds of possibility in contrast to the actual world. It refers to a world inferred in a different way, under the premise that things may exist in ways other than the way they exist in reality, as long as such a setting is logically or scientifically possible.

The artist composes his picture planes in a way that simultaneously reveals what he has not chosen and what he possesses, constructing paintings that metaphorize the appearance of a polysemous and organic world.

In particular, this exhibition 《Paintings of Possible Worlds》(Pyeongtaek Northern Center for Culture and Arts, 2024) is expected to be a large-scale solo exhibition presenting approximately 70 representative works, carefully organized to allow viewers to understand the vast scope of Sejun Lee’s artistic world, from his early work How to Contain Infinity within the Finite(2013), to a group of works produced during his Beijing residency(2016), and recent works.
