《END vs AND》 brings together Chung Hyun—an artist already established as a master in Korea—and Goyoson, an emerging talent increasingly recognized for his distinct practice. Together, they question the supposedly universal and inevitable narratives and structures of Western art history, and artistically explore the arbitrary possibilities within them.

Chung Hyun’s works deconstruct and radically renew sculptural traditions from within, while Goyoson introduces space and form into the sculptural realm with sensuous immediacy, unbound by any fixed boundaries. Through their works, we are invited to reflect on the institutional framework of so-called “universal” art and to savor the cracks that emerge from a conscious departure from that system.

This encounter between the two artists may appear to resemble the familiar model of “young genius and old master” rooted in the Western canon of modern art. However, it departs from that historical context altogether—seeking instead to construct a new artistic framework grounded in the particular conditions of Seoul, South Korea.
