The solo exhibition 《CHASING STARS IN SHADOW》 by media artist Joon Moon will be held at Heyri Hangil Bookhouse ART SPACE.

This exhibition presents works that were officially invited to the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival(BIFAN), Kaohsiung Film Festival 2022, China’s Sandbox Immersive Festival 2022, and others.

“Augmented Shadow” refers to a device and experience that realizes a kind of augmented reality using shadows.

“Augmented Shadow” augments a sense of reality by mapping virtual shadows onto the real shadows of objects. At this time, due to the characteristics of shadows, which are positioned at the boundary between imagination and reality, viewers experience a unique fantasy and poetic sensibility, as well as intellectual play through unexpected forms of shadow.

Beginning with the work of the same name, Augmented Shadow(2010), Joon Moon has continued through the series to experiment with the distinctive visual language and interaction rules unique to this augmented reality technology, which he developed and uses on his own.

Chasing Stars in Shadow is a work that tests the optical illusion effects and storytelling possibilities that Augmented Shadow technology can realize. Through the story of flat shadows meeting viewers in the real world through light, drawing space with light, and departing for a three-dimensional world, the work seeks to present the visual pleasure of optical illusion.
