《Outflux》 is a term that refers to leakage, an outlet, or the process and action of water and people flowing outward. At the same time, it captures the phenomenon in which subcultural painting styles flow and seep both inside and outside the boundaries of mainstream and non-mainstream art as an independent visual identity.

Focusing particularly on visual imagery developed from Japanese otaku culture, the exhibition presents a diverse spectrum in which six domestic and international artists actively working in Korea and Japan reinterpret comic and animation aesthetics into their own distinctive systems of signs and narratives.

In addition, through interview materials from each participating artist, the exhibition unfolds subcultural art or character-based painting that intersects within the flow of contemporary art like similar yet distinct species. These attempts operate as new indices, encouraging a range of aesthetic interpretations to be incorporated.
