《Rainbow Shadow Chaser》 is a story about melancholy, an emotion that distinctly characterizes the city of Seoul. It examines the dynamic metropolis where speed and convenience coexist with irrationality and disorder, closely observing the intricate and multifaceted landscapes of the people who live within it.

This exhibition explores the various manifestations of Seoul’s melancholy as embedded in urban planning, architecture, and the lives, culture, and psychology of its residents. The phrase “chasing a rainbow shadow” references a classic metaphor for pursuing unreachable dreams and hopes. As a title, it becomes a metaphor for metropolitan life—one shaped by contradiction and dual emotions.

The exhibition positions five artists as “rainbow shadow chasers.” Their backgrounds span from those born and raised in Seoul to nomadic individuals who have crossed borders and experienced urban migration. By following the trajectories of these characters’ lives, the exhibition offers a subtle and attentive look into the city’s romanticism, sentiments, and everyday realities.
