Artist Joo Hyeongjoon explores the universal human desire known as “wish” from a contemporary perspective. Rather than addressing sacred or heroic wishes appearing in myths or epics, he focuses on the modest yet earnest desires of ordinary people living in the present, translating them into visual form on the canvas.

This exhibition, 《In My Darkest Moments, Even My Own Shadow Abandons Me》, unfolds around the story of a character named “Q,” who struggles to find a ray of light in a world that seems shrouded in pitch-black despair. Through refined line drawings, the artist dramatically portrays Q’s narrative of wishes—both grand and minute—delicately capturing the subtle cracks of life and the emotions that emerge through them.

The segmented large-scale canvases and the installation of paintings on protruding structures invite viewers to experience the story three-dimensionally, tracing the emotional and spatial tension embedded within the works.
