The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA; Director Bartomeu Marí) announced on the 3rd that it has selected three artists and one artist collective as the final nominees for ‘2016 Korea Artist Prize’.
 
The selected nominees are Kim Eull (62), Baek Seung Woo (43), Ham Kyungah (50), and the collective Mixrice (Cho Ji Eun [41] and Yang Chul Mo [39]). According to the jury, the finalists were chosen from a list recommended by a nomination committee, following evaluations that included studio visits, interviews, and artwork presentations.
 
The finalists will present new works at the 《2016 Korea Artist Prize》 exhibition, which will be held at MMCA Seoul from August 31 to December 25. After a second round of evaluation, the jury will announce one final award recipient at the conclusion of the exhibition. The final winner will receive additional sponsorship funding of KRW 10 million.
 
In addition, ‘2016 Korea Artist Prize’ operates an overseas activity fund to support the continued international activities of participating artists. In the review for the overseas activity fund held at the end of last year, Lim Minouk, Moon Kyungwon & Jeon Joonho, Yee Sookyung, Ham Kyungah, and Jo Haejun were selected.
