A vaporized gaze spreads along the haze of the surface without reaching any single spot/
As though there were a transparent lung somewhere near the surface, the vibrations and reverberations of the colors contract, relax, and breathe, constantly crossing each other’s boundaries and expanding to create an optical illusion that alters the color of the air in front of one’s eyes/
At a certain point, the surface merges with the wall, causing one to lose all sense of direction and orientation of body/

This is a breathing door. A door that opens and closes with the movements of one’s eyes/
The door shifts depending on how open, closed, focused, or relaxed the eyes are/
It is a door that draws in and then drains one’s gaze into and out of the body/
A body along the border that projects both inside and outside/

It is sometimes a bright and sometimes a dark door/
Sometimes its darkness is so dark, that no one can escape from it/
And sometimes like a brilliantly bright light, the door to the senses expands to infinity/

William Basinski (“Water Music”). Meditative and ambient music without any particular beat can be heard. This minimalistic sound is repeated to induce a hypnotic and meditative sensation. The repetition of such minimal forms helps to activate the appreciative center via gaze and hearing.

Like the unconscious and repetitive instinct of breathing, these spray paintings minimize the physical traces of human intervention and continue the concise but unstoppable reverberation of light. At the same time, they cause light to be absorbed through the eyes via smaller, moist particles instead of a beaming glare.

On the other hand, a movement that is altogether different from meditative breathing takes place.
This occurs from the horizontal bundles of moisture that are slightly displaced or bent vertically.
In depictions that are stretched fast and long from one side to the other and zoomed in on.

The speed of the gaze becomes faster and the surface expands while both movements are combined into a single scene.
The editing technique that causes subtle modulations in what seems like a fast-pounding of the painting’s sequence evokes elasticity and tension. Stop breathing. Hold your breath and follow these movements.

In an instant, the meditative ambient turns into a genre that utilizes a sense of speed, segmentation of rhythm, and pitch modulation.
The sequencing and editing techniques of electronic music are evoked.

Even if I open my eyes, even if I shake my head left to right/
The translucent wet film spread between the eye and the object rejects the penetration of the gaze/
It serves to increase the time of the stunning experience with wet, unfocused eyes made more delicate and sharp/

The distance between the eyes and the thing that you are attempting to see doesn’t appear any closer/
No matter how close you get, no matter how far you zoom in or out, you remain far away/

The eye becomes a skin/
The inability to grasp or possess it satisfactorily with the eye alone/
Remaining on the near side forever/
The eye becomes a skin rather than an organ of sight/
Eyes that cannot be doors become water/

That water evaporates into the air, turning into a mist or fog/
Through skin that is permeated with light by contact near and far/
The eyes are a skin of light/
