Hyundai Department Store has announced its support for artist Leehaiminsun through the One Company, One Artist Sponsorship Program organized by the Korea Mecenat Association. Over the next three years, the company plans to provide an annual creative grant of KRW 5 million while pursuing a range of collaborative projects with the artist.

The One Company, One Artist Sponsorship Program is an initiative designed to promote corporate support for individual artists working in the visual arts. The Korea Mecenat Association connects companies with emerging artists selected by the Korea Arts Management Service and fosters long-term partnerships between them. Since its launch in 2021, the program has brought together 10 companies and 14 artists.

Leehaiminsun commented, “Rather than simply receiving financial assistance through a corporate artist sponsorship, I felt that the program recognized the many different kinds of costs involved in the entire process of sustaining an artist’s life and practice. It gave me a sense of reassurance and confidence that both my work and my life as an artist are genuinely respected.”

Hyundai Department Store previously supported artist Cha Youngseok for three years beginning in 2022 through the same initiative. Recognizing the importance of sustained support for individual artists, the company decided to participate in the program once again this year.

A representative of Hyundai Department Store stated, “Leehaiminsun’s work draws attention to the transience and vulnerability of overlooked everyday objects, transforming them into compelling visual forms. We believe there is a meaningful connection between Hyundai Department Store’s mission to lead culture with innovation for its customers and the artist’s practice, which poses profound questions about contemporary life.”

In addition to this initiative, Hyundai Department Store operates ALT. 1, Gallery H, and the Hyundai Museum of Kids’ Books & Art to broaden public access to culture. The company also continues to collaborate with artists through the development of design products and the creation of cultural spaces.
