《Furutsu Jelly》(Osisun, 2023) will be held at Osisun in Seongsu-dong from December 23 to 30. This showcase is connected to Kayoung Choi’s solo exhibition 《Furutsu》(Gallery Chosun, 2023), held at Gallery Chosun from November 28 to December 19, 2023.

In 《Furutsu》, the artist presented paintings depicting palm trees and tropical fruits overlaid with the romance of the South Seas, showing how they create exotic fantasies in everyday life.

In 《Furutsu Jelly》, she presents an installation work that conveys the experience of squeezing into the inside of the paintings from 《Furutsu》. We hope you become a certain fruit swimming in the sweet tropical flavor held by pieces of fruit soaked in syrup inside a can.

“Furutsu”

This is a word that alludes to the narratives of palm trees and tropical fruits that stage exotic romance and flavor. It is a transliteration of フルーツ, the Japanese pronunciation of “fruits.” The term was inspired by the way “furutsu” is used in the names of processed products that imitate fruit flavors, such as canned fruit cocktail and mixed fruit jelly.
