Gamman Creative Community Space presents the exhibition 《A Quiet, Attentive Gaze》, which opens on April 28 and runs through December 20, offering the public access to artists’ creative environments and processes.
This exhibition moves beyond the conventional format centered on completed works and instead focuses on the entirety of artistic processes, including drawings, studies, and records. Participated in by students from the Department of Contemporary Art at Kyungsung University, the exhibition becomes a platform where established artists and emerging practitioners come together, contributing to the circulation of the local art ecosystem.
Gamman Creative Community Space houses the headquarters of the Busan Cultural Foundation and serves as a representative cultural venue where artists actively engage in creative production and performance preparation. In the 14 studios newly occupied in 2026, each artist initiates a new attempt to communicate with audiences by revealing the behind-the-scenes of their creative processes beyond physical and psychological boundaries.

In particular, this exhibition gains further significance as five resident artists in the field of visual arts (Kwon Hahyung, Kim Mirae, Kim Beomsoo, Kim Yukyung, and Jeong Sine) participate directly at the unit level, taking the lead from spatial composition to conceptual planning, thereby embodying the meaning of a “participatory art model.”
Rather than presenting works in their finalized state, the exhibition foregrounds the process itself—such as drawings, traces of failure, and personal archives—as its primary material. Through this, viewers can experience the struggles and joys of each artist in a multi-dimensional way.
In addition, photographic works documenting the interiors of the 14 studios weave together the previously closed working environments into a narrative, transforming the entire Gamman Creative Community Space into a large-scale archive of artistic practice.
The project team “NOMAD-HUNCH” from the Department of Contemporary Art at Kyungsung University participates in the exhibition under the theme “No U-turn,” positively revealing states of incompletion and moments of change.
Through this, the exhibition creates an opportunity for established and emerging artists to meet on a shared stage, and it is expected that intergenerational communication will expand the future of the Busan art scene.
Resident artist Kim Beomsoo stated, “While sharing concerns about artistic creation with fellow artists and young art students, I discovered the significance of this exhibition,” adding, “Through the crossing of different perspectives, I experienced the emergence of new connections.”
Participant student Gam Jimin from Kyungsung University remarked, “By participating in a large-scale, site-oriented project, I came to appreciate the appeal of exhibition planning, and I gained motivation to grow within the local art scene.”
