The second theme of The Third Print is ‘Archiving’. Since the birth of mankind, documentation has evolved in various ways. During the ancient times, before written text was invented, human beings documented everyday life for memory by using paintings or drawings such as Altamira murals.

After the invention of type, efforts to record and document were continuously made through the usage of techniques, such as wooden block print or etching print. From a simple personal documentation intended to not forget certain memories to the sharing of information and to the uses of technology and methods in storing documents and information, documentation methods have been developed for private and public reasons.

Artists are creative egoists. There may be artists who create work by collecting an enormous amount of data; some artists may be able to express all algorithms on a single paper.

Through this exhibition, it will be possible to observe the process of subjective ‘documentation’ through the artists’ active intervention.
