Kwon Hyun Bhin views particulate materials such as Styrofoam or stone as virtual spaces, and is interested in sculptural actions that can occur both inside and outside a mass.

“Stone existed in the distant past, and it will exist in the distant future as well. Standing somewhere in between, I often imagine stones that have not yet been carved.

Whether large or small, flat or uneven, stone will be struck, rubbed, and cut away—by nature or by human hands. These changes remain as traces on the stone, prompting us to imagine the form of time yet to come. Even simply standing still, stone seems to be vibrating, generating countless possibilities and the marks they leave behind.”
