《Circle, Chase, Contact》 is a performance
work that explores the themes of “contact and connection,” as well as
“collectivity.” By inviting the audience to directly participate in the
performance, the work forms a temporary “field” of contact, through which it
investigates new sensory experiences produced as bodies move back and forth
between physical reality and virtual relationships mediated by digital
technologies.

The
work is composed of two scenes. In the first scene, based on the concept of
tag, situations in which the virtual and the real are intertwined are presented
through streaming, recording, projection devices, and improvised movements. The
second scene adopts Ganggangsullae, a traditional Korean circle dance, and
is structured as a participatory play with the audience, encouraging the
formation of a temporary community. Through the familiar format of traditional
games, the work raises questions about corporeality and modes of relating in
the digital age.
