The solo exhibition 《Black Bird Black》 begins with the image of flocks of crows that have recently appeared in the center of the city.

While filming these crows at night, the artist realized that they were almost invisible on the monitor—the blackness of the birds merged completely into the gradation of the night sky, leaving behind only a single, overwhelming field of darkness.

To see the crows, one had to look through the black; to see the black, one had to question its very substance. The exhibition continuously intertwines the meanings and forms of blackness—sometimes centering the crows, sometimes casting them into the background. The crows drift closer to or away from the black field, appearing at times as something other than crows. Through this process, the work examines the instability and multiplicity embedded within the color black itself.
