Born in
1993, Sojin Kwak earned her BFA in Film from the School of Film, TV &
Multimedia at the Korea National University of Arts and later received an MFA
in Intermedia Art from the same institution. Since 2020, she has been producing
video works based on concrete field research and performative filming, while
also engaging in object-based performances.
Since
2023, she has been part of a madang-geuk (traditional Korean courtyard theater)
project alongside artists and curators from Korea and Japan. The project, set
in the Higashikujo neighborhood of Kyoto, explores how madang-geuk has been
reinterpreted and examines the shared histories of diasporic communities.
