out_sight presents the group exhibition 《Fingers Crossed》, featuring artists Nayoung Kang, Yoonhwa Yang, and Jieun Eom, on view from July 1 to August 1, 2021.

“Belief” takes many forms. At times it becomes conviction; at other moments, it is dismissed as blind faith or superstition. We often draw a clear line between sincere faith and credulous superstition—but can we truly say that a solemn conviction is always hard-won, while the impulse to rely on superstition is merely frivolous? This intangible sentiment, often perceived only through instinct, can solidify when needed, only to grow pliable again.

The exhibition 《Fingers Crossed》 imagines how belief is formed before it takes on a name—an unfinished sentiment sustained by constant doubt and persuasion. Here, there is neither noble virtue nor steadfast will. What the three artists present are incomplete gestures: movements that shift, adapt, and quietly carry on to whatever comes next.
