SONGEUN Art and Cultural Foundation presents 《The 25th SONGEUN Art Award》 exhibition at the SONGEUN, on view through February 14 of next year. Marking its 25th edition, the SONGEUN Art Award received applications from a total of 556 artists, with 20 finalists selected through a preliminary review to participate in this exhibition.

The 20 participating artists—Youngchan Ko, Goyoson, Hyun Bhin Kwon, Muyeong Kim, Minjung Kim, Juwon Kim, Hansaem Kim, Bomroya, Bigo, Shin Min, Yo-E Ryou, Jeongsu Woo, Miryu Yoon, Jeong-ui Yun, Sooji Lee, Sungjae Lee, Aram Lee, Jinhyung Lee, Kahee Jeong, and Taehoon Choi—present new works across a wide range of media, including painting, sculpture, installation, video, and sound. Together, they offer an opportunity to examine the current landscape and future possibilities of contemporary Korean art.

Since its establishment in 2001, the SONGEUN Art Award has evolved alongside the development of contemporary Korean art. In 2021, marking its 20th anniversary and the opening of a new building, the award underwent a restructuring focused on easing eligibility requirements and strengthening benefits for artists. In particular, collaborations with the Seoul Museum of Art and Cartier were expanded to reinforce its support system for artists.

The Grand Prize winner of the 25th SONGEUN Art Award will be announced in January next year following a final review during the exhibition period. The recipient will receive a prize of 20 million KRW, support for a solo exhibition at SONGEUN within three years, and the acquisition of their work—supported by the SONGEUN Art and Cultural Foundation and Cartier—for inclusion in the collections of both the foundation and the Seoul Museum of Art. Additionally, the winner will be offered a one-year residency opportunity at the Seoul Museum of Art.

All 20 finalists will be eligible to apply for the “SONGEUN–Delfina Foundation Residency” program, operated through an exclusive partnership with the Delfina Foundation. One selected artist will be supported for a 12-week residency at the Delfina Foundation in London.

Furthermore, SONGEUN will present the design project “On Weight” in the Welcome Room, featuring Korean artists who are alumni of the Royal College of Art (RCA) and the Architectural Association School of Architecture (AA School). In addition, a one-day holiday market will be held on the 21st, where visitors can view and purchase artworks.
