Lee
Yongbaek received his BFA in Painting from the College of
Fine Arts, Hongik University, Seoul, in 1990. He later studied at the
Staatliche Akademie der bildenden Künste Stuttgart in Germany, completing Freie
Malerei in 1993 and earning his MFA in Bildhauerei in 1995. Since then, he has
been actively engaged in exhibitions and projects both in Korea and
internationally.

Yongbaek Lee, a first-generation media artist in Korea, has
explored the intersections of humanity and society, technology and art,
utilizing diverse media including video, installation, and painting. Through
the convergence of reality and the virtual, the harmony between tradition and
modernity, and philosophical inquiries into human existence, he seeks
possibilities for transformation and change.

This exhibition presents major works including his representative
‘Broken Mirror’ series, as well as Angel-Soldier, Blue
Series, What Makes The Earth Go Around?,
and Evaporating Things.
Art is both a mirror reflecting its time and a medium for profound
insight. Amid rapidly changing socio-cultural environments, DOT Museum presents
this solo exhibition of Yongbaek Lee, a pioneer of media art, in order to
illuminate the diverse possibilities and significance of the convergence
between contemporary art and technology.
