Celebrating its 40th edition this year, EVA International is the Ireland Biennial of contemporary art. The event is scheduled to take place from August 31 to October 29, 2023. This year’s EVA International will feature artworks, events, and performances from more than 50 Irish and international artists across 17 venues.

Korean artists Cha Jaemin (b. 1986) and Kim Beom (b. 1963) are participating in the biennial. Cha Jaemin is a recipient of the Artspectrum Artist Prize from the Leeum Museum of Art in Seoul. By reconstructing narratives into videos, her works thoroughly research and investigate specific subjects to showcase how societal contradictions affect individuals. Cha has chiefly focused on discussing labor, wages, development, and the marginalized within capitalist societies.

Kim Beom is currently holding a solo exhibition titled How to Become a Rock at the Leeum Museum of Art until December 3. Through various media, Kim Beom’s conceptual works incorporate humorous imagination into objects to create unexpected forms.
