Bosul Kim has explored the organic interconnectedness between humans and nature from an Eastern holistic perspective, which understands all beings in the world not as separate entities but as closely connected within a single vast organism.

Through diverse technologies including AI, XR, and the metaverse, she has expanded the boundaries between reality and virtuality. Her practice is recognized for moving beyond the use of technology as a mere tool, combining philosophical inquiry with contemporary technologies to create new aesthetic experiences.

Based on scientific evidence concerning climate change and rising sea levels, the exhibition is a large-scale XR media art project that imagines a future virtual underwater ecosystem. Through an AR environment built around LED screens and installations in the exhibition space, viewers are invited to explore “HAERA,” a deep-sea world in which human urban civilization has submerged.

The deep sea she creates is reinterpreted not simply as a site of disaster, but as an “alternative habitat” where new life forms and hybrid ecosystems emerge within altered nature.

Viewers interact with luminous marine organisms and swim through underwater terrain resembling the landscapes of traditional East Asian paintings, while confronting questions about how humanity might coexist with nonhuman beings after climate change. Moving beyond visual spectacle, the work guides viewers through a journey of reflection on some of the most urgent ecological questions of our time.
