《House of Dispersed Layers》 is a project that sought out abandoned spaces or places that had become forgotten and nearly imperceptible within everyday life, temporarily opening them so that people could collectively use and appropriate them through ‘direct’ encounters with property owners rather than through conventional contractual relationships. Different forms of installation structures were conceived for each site, with particular emphasis placed on constructing settings in which new and different events could occur.

The project took place from May 28 to July 15, 2014, across five sites in Seogyo-dong, Donggyo-dong, Sangsu-dong, and Changjeon-dong in Mapo-gu, Seoul. These sites included an abandoned railway site beneath a bridge, an apartment rest area, an emergency exit, the rooftop of a stairwell building, and a parking lot within a neighborhood of studio apartments.

Participants included contemporary dance group INstadio Movement and bassist Zorba, playwright Gay Gonzo, band HYUKOH, Nomadic Drift—a collaborative team working across video, sound, and dance—surveyor Park Aram, Very Things, Hpark Travel Agency guide Park Hyemin, sound artist monoels, artist Roh Sangho, and musician Leuuuco.
