Byun Sanghwan’s 《New, Twinkling Hairtail》, presented in Space A of SeMA Storage, is an exhibition that expands and experiments with 'Live Rust'—a series combining elements of painting, sculpture, printmaking, and performance—within an actual three-dimensional space.

The artist explores an imposing and expansive extension of 'Live Rust' across the three rooms of Space A at SeMA Storage. 'Live Rust' is produced by printing steel sections coated with anti-rust paint; the overlapping reddish-brown abstract graphics, layered like the passing of a baton in a relay race, depend upon the artist’s active bodily intervention and a repetitive production process.

Floating through a space that changes continuously, these reddish-brown planes shift according to the viewer’s perspective and stimulate the senses on multiple levels.
