CCN Residency presents a relay series of solo exhibitions by its second cohort of resident artists. This relay exhibition introduces representative past works by the eight artists who began their residency in April of this year and will continue their creative activities through March of next year, alongside new works produced since entering the residency.

It offers an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of creative activity at the residency and to consider the directions their practices may take during the remaining residency period.

Ipkyu Jang, the third artist in the second cohort relay exhibition, has worked by reconstructing modes of communication used in the digital world through physical methods in the real world.

This exhibition takes as its motif an incident from July of this year involving an “AI hidden command,” in which the operating logic of commands embedded in a digital environment was abused to manipulate the evaluation score of an academic paper. The incident became an international issue by revealing that, in the age of AI, our perceptions can be manipulated and edited, giving rise to various social problems and ethical conflicts.

Through projected-image installations and object-based installations, the artist brings an event that occurred in the virtual digital world into the physical space of the exhibition hall. The exhibition space becomes a site for contemplating phenomena encountered in the age of digital AI within an analog and aesthetic context.
