《Merry Mix: The More, The Better》 is an archival exhibition commemorating the reactivation of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA)’s greatest collection, The More, The Better (1988), following its extensive period of restoration. Paik Nam June completed this large-scale video installation of 1,003 TV monitors on September 15th, 1988. The exhibition will take on a journey across the background of its creative production, an archive accumulated in the process of operating the work since its conception, and the works of different artists who interpreted Paik’s oeuvre into their own words.

This exhibition is divided into four sections. The first section shows the documents, blueprints, and photographs detailing the procedure of how The More, The Better was installed in MMCA, along with the video of Paik’s satellite project, Wrap Around the World (1988), which premiered The More, The Better to the world. Next, it leads to the second section where the original eight 4-channel videos from The More, The Better are shown along with the screening of an interview with Paul Garrin, who produced and edited these videos.

The third section houses materials generated for the past 34 years since the completion of The More, The Better and the operation of this machine, which had a 10-year life expectancy. The last section presents contemporary artists who paid homage to Paik’s oeuvre and the respective process. And various interview videos of people who collaborated with Paik in the making of The More, The Better are installed in different parts of the gallery for the audience to explore the work through others' memories and retrospection.

In Paik’s own words, his works are "the first collaboration of highbrow art and popular culture," as well as "a merry mix of the old enfants terribles and the new." ‘Merry Mix’ is the term that best describes Paik's creative process and approach to creating works with a diverse range of collaborators, including musicians, dancers, architects, engineers, technicians, and others.

The records on display in 《Merry Mix: The More, The Better》 witness how many people worked together to install and maintain this work to this day. MMCA will operate The More, The Better again on the 90th anniversary of his birth. MMCA anticipates the audience experiencing a merry mix with Paik Nam June and his world of art through his works.
