The “Forest in May” reveals every shade of green that exists in the visible world. From the most delicate yellow-green to greens steeped in the color of water, the foliage deepens as it endures several typhoons and waves of summer heat, before eventually blossoming and bearing fruit. In the meantime, the forest grows healthy and beautiful.

The exhibition 《Forest in May—Why I Draw》 brings together five young artists based in Korea in 2022: Moonassi, Wonmi Seo, Lee kyutae, Lee Miju, and Cho Haena. Each of them nurtures a forest of art and life in their own way, carrying the vibrant energy of a forest in May.

In this exhibition, “the artists themselves are the subject.” It offers an opportunity to closely examine the distinct artistic worlds of artists who continually seek new paths of change and create opportunities for growth, pursuing not the art that others favor but the art they themselves love. Artists are people who always live ahead of their time.

Although their feet are planted in the present, their gaze is consistently directed toward the future. The exhibition seeks to offer wholehearted encouragement and support for the journeys of these artists, who sincerely love and carefully cultivate their lives and art with the confidence and individuality characteristic of a younger generation determined to differ not only from established generations but also from one another.
