Hong Seung-Hye graduated from the Department of Painting at Seoul National University and studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. She currently serves as a professor in the Department of Fine Arts at Seoul National University of Science & Technology.
From 2003, Art Sonje Center will collaborate with Hermes Korea for the Hermes Korea award ceremony and exhibition.
Hermes Korea and Art Sonje, the frontier institute to support young, emerging Korean artists who will lead the Korean contemporary art, will team up to plan the exhibition and participate in the selection process to award the winning finalist. The partnership will enhance the prestige of Hermes Korea Award.
The three nominees for the 2003 award are Do-ho Seo, Hae-gue Yang, and Seung-hye Hong. All three artists will introduce a new project to be displayed at the exhibition. The final winner will be chosen by the five international judges, including Nanji Yoon, Dongu Yoon, Young-ho Kim, Nicolas Bourriaud, and Yuko Hasegawa.
