The Anyang Public Art Project (ANYANG PUBLIC ART PROJECT | APAP) is Korea’s only public art festival held every three years in the city of Anyang. By presenting the evolving context and environment of the modern city — including its history, culture, topography, and development — through diverse public artworks such as visual art, sculpture, architecture, design, and performance, the project transforms the city itself into a gallery where citizens can enjoy art in everyday life, existing alongside the lives of people in the urban environment.

《The 5th Anyang Public Art Project (APAP5)》 presented public art that had evolved across diverse genres through open and pluralistic approaches. By expanding citizen participation to maximize the publicness of art and presenting works in media, writing, film, fashion, sound, and performance that proposed future directions for the project, it suggested new currents in public art. 《APAP5》 sought active communication with both the unique site of Anyang and its citizens, and six works currently remain permanently installed.
