Kukje Gallery presents the fourth solo exhibition of Kibong Rhee (b. 1957). Since receiving the Grand Prize at the Grand Art Exhibition of Korea in 1986, Rhee has maintained an active practice and established himself as a leading mid-career artist in Korea.

Working in both installation and painting, he has focused on the structures and flows that constitute the essence of humans, objects, and the world, as well as the various meanings derived from them. These philosophical concerns, combined with his refined sensibility and exceptional understanding of materiality, have earned him wide recognition both in Korea and internationally.

This exhibition at Kukje Gallery, his first there in five years since 2003, presents a total of nine works, including large-scale installations using water and mist alongside paintings. Rhee’s works are held in the collections of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and the Ho-Am Art Museum, as well as the ZKM Museum in Germany and the Neuberger Berman Collection in New York. He has also been active internationally, with exhibitions scheduled later this year at the 2008 Singapore Biennale and the KIASMA Museum of Contemporary Art in Helsinki, Finland.
