Sindoh, an office solutions company (CEO Woo Suk-hyung, www.sindoh.com), announced that it has selected three emerging artists—Hyung-Geun Park, Seulgi Lee, and siren eun young jung—through the “5th Sindoh Artist Support Program (SINAP),” and will sponsor their artistic activities while supporting their advancement onto the global stage.
The “Sindoh Artist Support Program (SINAP)” is Sindoh’s art talent development initiative, which selects three promising emerging artists active both domestically and internationally through evaluation by globally renowned curators. The program provides project grants and supports the artists’ entry into the international art scene.
Under Sindoh’s supervision, the selection process and preliminary screening began in July. In the final round, candidate artists underwent presentations and interviews, allowing for an in-depth evaluation. The jury for the 5th SINAP was led by Massimiliano Gioni, one of the most active curators in the world and Associate Director of the New Museum in New York. Gioni previously served as Artistic Director of the 2010 Gwangju Biennale, establishing ties with Korea. The domestic jury included HyungTeh Do, Art Director and Vice President of Gallery Hyundai.
Since 2011, Sindoh has operated its artist-in-residence-style program, supporting the artistic activities and exhibitions of numerous emerging Korean artists, including Yeesookyung, Inhwan Oh, Junebum Park, and Jihyun Jung. Selected artists are given opportunities to hold exhibitions in Sindoh’s headquarters cultural space, as well as to participate in “Artist Talks” for employees, fostering appreciation for artistic sensibility.
HyungTeh Do, Vice President of Gallery Hyundai and a juror for this edition, commented, “This year’s program focused on artists who have demonstrated consistency, experimentation, and a high level of completion based on a serious artistic practice spanning over a decade. It was a meaningful occasion to confirm the potential for development in the Korean art scene through their experimental approaches and expressive qualities.”
Massimiliano Gioni added, “All the submissions were diverse and highly expressive, making it difficult to select only three artists. The evaluation focused on their potential for both domestic and international activities, as well as the cosmopolitan nature of their work.”
Lee Chul-woo, Director of Sindoh’s Public Relations Office, stated, “The purpose of Sindoh’s artist support program is to invest, at a corporate level, in artists who will lead the future of Korean art, thereby providing strong support for the domestic cultural and arts sector. Sindoh will continue to discover and support emerging artists in the future.”
