The exhibition from March 25th to May 10th, 2011 at the National Art Museum, Deoksugung. This exhibition, organized by an invited external planner, constitutes a new type of exhibition project involving a new interpretation of the artworks in the collection of the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Korea that is sure to enhance their value.

《Abstract It!》 is a special exhibition introducing 93 major artworks by 71 representative artists, both from Korea and overseas, including Kim Chang-ryeol, Park Seo-bo, Lee U-hwan, Marcel Duchamp, and Louise Bourgeoise. The selected works range from early 20th century Korean modern paintings to abstract works of the 1960-70s and contemporary art.

Curator Jinsang Yoo(Professor of the Kaywon School of Art And Design), the person responsible for planning this special exhibition, said, "This exhibition is an attempt to improve the status of the collections of a number of major governmental institutions in Korea and to reinterpret these artworks. I hope that visitors to the museum will be able to appreciate these masterpieces with familiarity and at ease."

The National Museum of Contemporary Art, Korea plans to make a name for itself as an open museum with transitions of its exhibition paradigm through future invitations and collaborations with outside planners, as well as through exchanges of works with international institutions, etc.
