Moon Kyungwon & Jeon Joonho, both born in 1969, are a Korean artist duo active since 2009. Prior to their collaboration, each artist had established an independent artistic career: Moon through painting and experimental video works, and Jeon through sculpture and installation. Since forming their partnership, the two artists have developed the long-term multidisciplinary project ‘News from Nowhere’, which functions as a platform for exploring the roles and meanings of contemporary art across diverse media, including film, installation, photography, workshops, books, websites, and newsletters.

Their first collaborative work within this project was the two-channel film installation El Fin del Mundo(The End of the World, 2012), which premiered at 《dOCUMENTA 13》 and later entered the collection of the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa. In 2022, the museum also presented a large-scale exhibition titled “News from Nowhere,” introducing the project to Japanese audiences.

《Dialogue Manual》 focuses on the individual artistic practices of Moon Kyungwon and Jeon Joonho, presented in parallel with the exhibition 《News from Nowhere : Laboratory of Spring and Autumn Collection》 at SCAI THE BATHHOUSE. While the latter centers on the duo’s collaborative moving image installation Phantom Garden(2024–2025), this exhibition highlights Moon’s paintings that explore the sedimented layers of time and memory, alongside Jeon’s sculptures reflecting his experiences within the global art scene.

Presented together across two venues, the exhibitions provide an opportunity for audiences in Japan to encounter both the artists’ recent collaborative works and their individual artistic trajectories. The dual presentation reveals how their distinct practices intersect and expand through collaboration, while maintaining independent lines of inquiry within contemporary art.
