A photo book by photographer Atta Kim titled The Museum Project has recently been published in New York.

‘The Museum Project’ is Kim’s representative body of work. The series consists of photographs created by shaving the heads of male and female models, stripping them naked, placing them inside transparent acrylic boxes, and photographing them. The series includes ‘Sex’, ‘Field’, ‘Holocaust’, ‘War Memorial’, ‘People’, ‘Nirvana’, ‘Jesus’, ‘Prostitute’, ‘Suicide’, and ‘China’.

The book was published by Aperture, one of the most influential publishers in contemporary photography. Kim is the first Korean—and Asian—artist to publish a photo book through Aperture.

Following the publication, Kim will hold a solo exhibition at the International Center of Photography (ICP) beginning December 9 for three months, after which the exhibition will tour major museums and galleries worldwide over the next four years.

The ICP exhibition, curated by the institution itself—often referred to as the “Museum of Modern Art of Photography”—will feature large-scale photographic works from Kim’s Broadcasting.

Meanwhile, a domestic publication celebration for the photo book will be held on the 11th at 6 p.m. at the outdoor performance venue of Gana Art Center in Pyeongchang-dong.
