《Rent》 is an exhibition that explores the capitalist use of land and the idea of private land ownership through the language of painting. In our contemporary world, where everything is commodified based on the principles of capital, the land is also predominantly perceived solely in terms of its monetary value.

However, the reasons behind land speculation, the fluctuation of apartment prices, and the origins of these phenomena remain enigmatic to us. Conversely, we can observe how humanity has historically interacted with land and how it will continue to be utilized in the future, only within the laws of our time, namely, capitalism.

This exhibition brings together ten artists spanning different generations, from their 20s to their 80s. Each artist contributes thematic works that maintain their distinct painting styles. The exhibition’s arrangement is structured around the material connections between the artworks: internalized urban landscapes, critical depictions of alienation, desire, and distortion related to land use, representations of the human figure, and imaginative portrayals of the interplay between humans and nature, as well as human relationships.
