Gallery Playlist presents the two-person exhibition 《Visible and Invisible》 by Greem Kim and Park Sohyun from August 26 (Sat) to September 20 (Wed), 2023. Held in Busan for the first time, the exhibition brings together works exploring more than what is visibly seen—delving into internal sensations and reflections on nature, each expressed through distinct themes and methods. Nearly thirty works, including many new pieces, are on view.

In this exhibition, both artists convey sensory phenomena that unfold beyond the visible realm, each developing their own approach and subject matter.

Greem Kim focuses on organic relationships within nature and on life itself. Coexistence and circulation in natural environments expand or become metaphorical through the body’s encounters with landscape. Her works encompass not only the scenery itself but also bodily sensations and emotions evoked by those environments. By blending figurative landscapes with abstract bodily perception, her paintings create tactile, immersive surfaces that emphasize the interdependence of humans and nature.

Park Sohyun’s works are filled with water and light. She accumulates fleeting moments shaped by water, building them layer by layer into scenes of beauty. The meeting of water, light, and time generates unpredictable phenomena and movements that are captured on canvas. The amorphous and fluid qualities of nature, especially water’s ever-changing forms, resemble the artist’s own spontaneous and chance-driven techniques.

Both artists heighten their senses to perceive what cannot be clearly defined by sight. Through their works, they pursue what lies beyond direct observation, suggesting to viewers the existence of an unseen world that persists even in moments we do not notice.
