As part of the 2021 residency program, Incheon Art Platform organized the “Resident Artists Creation & Production Project” to support the creative activities of its resident artists. As the ninth project in the visual arts category, artist Jamyoung Koo presents his solo exhibition 《On Growth and Form of Software》.

Koo has been interested in the shifting perception of objects through technological experiences and continues his practice within the field of visual arts by working with diverse media. Recently, he began to explore questions surrounding the form of software in a world composed of source code, as well as methods to examine the aesthetic properties inherent in such structures.

In this exhibition 《On Growth and Form of Software》, Koo traces the form of software through the principle of muscle growth. By applying actual source codes — drawn from developer communities (in this case related to user registration) — he observes how bundles of code generate shape when responding to external resistance (or intervention), and presents the resulting works.
