The Daejeon Artist Residency TEMI, a visual arts residency program operated by the Daejeon Cultural Foundation, presents a solo exhibition by Omyo Cho, an artist selected for the 8th residency cohort. This exhibition is the result of the residency's individual project support program.

Focusing on the non-material nature of images printed and circulated across society, Omyo Cho reinterprets their encoded meanings and translates them into sculptural forms, reconstructing them within the exhibition space. The exhibition explores interpretive possibilities through “oxymoron”—the combination of seemingly contradictory phenomena—exemplified by the title Jumbo Shrimp, which paradoxically merges the words “JUMBO: large” and “SHRIMP: small.”

Using diverse materials such as ceramics, nets, and glass, the artist creates two distinct spatial narratives, each evoking different meanings. Visitors are invited to consider whether they can construct new interpretations within these contrasting spaces. The exhibition is on view from Thursday, July 1 to Wednesday, July 14, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Daejeon Artist Residency TEMI. Admission is free. In accordance with COVID-19 social distancing guidelines, a maximum of 20 visitors per hour is permitted, with temperature checks and QR code entry required.
